Rob Hoekstra BS Performance Manager

I am sure no one will disagree that Derek was a very honest and good person. Unfortunately Team GBR needed someone with backbone who can stand by their convictions. As said in another post Rob is a leader not a follower - no-one will manipulate him in the same way as they did in the past. The footballers don't seem to complain that they have a foreigner as their leader - it seems to me that a few small minded people cannot see that the sport needed a good shake up - now it will have it. Rob has produced some excellent riders here and abroad, he has a fantastic eye for a horse and his training skills are second to none. It can't have been easy for him either - he knows what is behind him but is still focused enough in his sport to put it behind him and take on a challenge and hopefully make a difference in our sport. Instead of whinging and whining about his misgivings on this forum why can't we all agree to disagree and give him the support he deserves. There were plenty of comments when GB were not producing the results expected of them - many said it was time for a change - now we have a focused, strong minded person with strong interests in our sport to hopefully pull us out of the hole we are in. We do have some exceptionally talented riders here and we need someone who can produce them and bring their talents to the fore. Perhaps if we could show owners and potential owners that under new management GB is a country to stand and be counted not so many horses would be sold abroad!

Well horsemad 007 Iam International owner and Iam not impressed, doesnt inspire me to want stay involved at that level with Rob as performance manager. There were better people to have chosen.

I would disagree on Ricketts - one of the most dishonest and facey people I have ever had the displeasure of coming across - and frankly Show Jumping is better for the fact he is gone. Look at the results the team had at their first show without him - better than anything they achieved under his power, which goes to show we have the ingedients. Rob has a big job ahead of him and only time will tell if he is up for the job, but I do believe it is a step forward for British Showjumping.

Just my opinion!

Well Exceed - for your information I am also an 'International Owner; Whoopee! There are more than ONE of us around! If you had an ounce of brain in your body you would welcome the idea that we now have someone who can voice their opinion and stand by it - something I know full well Rob can do. Who would you consider a better person?

No need to to be so rude horsemad007 we are all aloud an opinon or not? You have your views and I have mine.Time will tell with Rob lets hope he can be strong enough to sort are teams out. No one more than me would like to see us back up there like it use to be in Ronnie's day when we won nations cups and medals!!

Wasn't aware that I was being rude - yes everybody is allowed an opinion but give the man a chance and as for stating you are an international owner - so what - if you are then stand by the decision of the BSJA and support their choice. There are people out there who probably haven't jumped abroad but it does not mean they do not have the horse power. With the Pathway Scheme etc., everyone has the chance to prove their and their horses worth. Now is the opportunity to push Britain forward. To say that having Rob as Team Manager does not inspire you to compete at that level is ridiculous. If your horse was consistent and good enough I am sure you would be a very proud owner to see him on a NC, SL or even representing GB in 2012 - who ever the manager may be! As I have said before this is a new start and with someone who has alot to prove but at least he is someone who (as said before) is not one of the old boys club, does not have any family connections and can give a completely unbiased opinion. I have heard Rob has suddenly become very popular in Spain - wonder why?????
