My horse had just been diagnosed with mild kissing spines. It is only one space that is close, but he is very sore over it.

He’s just had it medicated and the vet has recommended Robaxin which is a muscle relaxer. This is a horse who does not show pain in normal ways, ie lameness or resistance. He just tenses up his whole body and gets on with it.

This means that the painful part of his back, and his quarters are very tense and in spasm a lot of the time.

Just wondered if anyone else has used Robaxin?

Yes, I have used robaxin to help release muscle tension in the back.
Horse had PSD and then also diagnosed with hock arthritis, so we injected the hocks with steroid but it didn't make any difference. All through this he was quite reactive through his back, but everything was clear in x-ray. So vet thought that he was sore from compensating for his hocks, and just wasn't wanting work correctly and lift his back.
So we were given robaxin. We did two weeks on, one week off, then two weeks on. It made a big difference to his way of going, and the issues we had seen from his hocks eased off.
We repeated it the next year when he had his hocks injecting again.

Yup. Used it for my pssm mare. It's cheap but the tablets are bitter so I had to grind them up and hide in tasty food. For a horse who usually guzzles she hated them.

Definitely worked but 4 weeks seemed to cause gut problems so I had to wean her off. Actually found a high dose of CBD works as well but is a lot more expensive.
