Back in April when the interview was published, I reckon Robert was spot on and very realistic about GB's prospects. He was saying what a lot of people were thinking. Nick is outstanding and had an outstanding horse. Nobody else was showing quite such results and a lot of top class horses, including Robert's, had been sold. He was pretty pragmatic about his own chances of selection I thought - and since the team hadn't at that point been selected I don't see how "sour grapes" would come into it.
I think it's amazing the team won Gold yesterday, I think it's great for the sport, but in no way was it a foregone conclusion.
