I've just been doing some browsing on Robinsons website for a new rug for winter and noticed they are saying that they are opening another shop in Basingstoke next year. There's a bit of a story saying its going to be a really big shop with a feed store and cafe so it sounds like it'll be worth a visit.

Ooo cool! I'm sensing a nice Sunday trip with the OH there

Leave him in the cafe of course.

You don't work for Robinsons by any chance do you?!

If so, please feed back to them that if their Basingstoke shop is as bad as the Cannock one, I won't be bothering to visit! I can never get anything I need in the Cannock shop, the staff don't know one end of the shop from the other (let alone the catalogue!!), and everything is overpriced for what it is. Oh, and the Requisite bridles fall to pieces within 2 months of purchase, even when not used every day.

Hmm, this sounds just like the one off Jn24 of the M6.
It really isn't worth the trip, it's an absolute dump of a place.

I'd rather pay more locally and get something that'll last and is good quality.

In their defence, I think Robinson's are good for stable hardware - buckets, forks etc.

Other than that, I avoid the place like the plague

Don't get excited MM... the one by us is rubbish!! I was dead excited and then I drove 45 mins out of my way to get to it to find I could have bought everything at my local tack shop... well, the 2 things on my list that were actually in stock, anyway. At least when you go to a small shop, they offer to order things in when they're not in stock. Robinsons shop just say "it's not in stock and we don't know when it will be".

I buy lots of stuff from Robbies as its just down the road from me and I must say I find it great value for money, especially the jods. I've just bought some fleecy muckers that are dead warm and comfy, £18.50. I prefer these to my £150 Ariats in winter. I think we sometimes forget that horses are destructive beasts so its difficult to make things last. I bought a haynet from the Horse dept of Harrods (all I could afford!!) It lasted 3 weeks, I have others from Robinsons that have lasted years and it was a quarter of the price....

I don't buy from Robinsons because they seem to think NI is the other side of the world and charge postage accordingly - so if you work for them 000 please remember, we are part of the UK and ordinary postage costs apply

Have to agree about the Midlands shop, went there just after it opened, not too impressed.Car park too small, hard to find.
Now, I need to pay £16 for delivery to France, last order has taken 10 days, fair enough I have had half the postage refunded, and the customer service girlie was good.

I was really excited when I read this post title, now having read the other replies I am not so sure. Basingstoke is quite near me so will still be worth a look if it does open. Went to Surrey Equestrian the other day for the first time, and it was like heaven! (To my sad self), never seen so much horsey equipment all in one place
