I know Robinsons are not known for quality goods and i know they have been recently taken over by Sports Direct but what on earth is going on with almost all items being listed as Unknown? eg "Unknown Weatherbeeta turnout rug" It seems to be most items and irritates me!

Also what the hell is this item all about? I thought maybe a sample but its the only size they do and have the same in wall mats.

Is it run by morons?

I annoys me too, you go in for a new riding jacket and they are all outdoor jackets that having the riding vents on the back!! the shop is always half empty too

I must admit i quite often have a quick look, they do some good prices on everyday objects. I purchased hoof picks 29p and tie up rings 49p etc recently which they sent me twice! I now have enough hoofpicks and tie rings to last me til retirement :)

Go on, send me a tie up ring..... you know you want to..... :D :D (only joking, honest!)

If you are prepared to take a punt some of the unknown stuff can be a nice surprise

I purchased a couple of rugs a while back 'unknown Masta rug' I was able to choose the size in that case, what turned up were two top of the range rugs, two for under £25 I was really pleased! I've also had a nice surprise with unknown lead ropes and headcollars. Not had anything disappointing so far but I cant be lucky all the time I am sure!

Remember the days when the Robinsons catalogue used to come with the latest edition of H&P and it used to be a good place to buy stuff?

Now it is indeed run and owned by morons, aka Sports Direct.

It's such a shame. I hadnt been to my local Robinsons for well over a year and dropped in a few weeks ago and OMG what a difference. Half the shelves were empty and what was left was just piled on the shelves with not much order at all, it's a real shame as I did used to like it before.

Anybody know for sure if they have stopped doing the range of jods that came in long, short, fat, thin sizes?

Went to my local one on a Monday and at this point I've totally given up especially with rugs as it seems unless you want a fleece one your out of luck cause that's all they have 😡. Think I might finally go visit Eileen Douglas as it's only 40/50 mins away and everyone seems to rave about it.

I no longer bother detouring to Robinsons, waste of time. If you're visiting Eileen Douglas, also take a trip to Millwheel (another 20 min detour) both shops serve the area really well, huge range in both but stock differs a lot - Millwheel also has secondhand.

Has anyone been to the Haydock one recently? Was going to take OH to try on new riding boots (for him).

Definently don't bother! The upstairs is rented out to other folk with the shoe section squeezed in and all other horse stuff is squeezed in downstairs it was horrendous! Only good section they had was on wellies which thankfully I went for! What direction you coming from, maybe able to help with an alternative?

Once you've been to Eileen Douglas you'll never bother with Rubbish Robinsons again!

have noticed Robbies have REQUISITE jods reduced from £50ish to £22. when ever were requisite that price???????????????????? ridiculas. Aldi do good jods at £12

Never used them, but I would be patient. SD has a rep of being run by men with horns and pointy tails, but they actually get the customer offering right in many ways. My guess is they're learning the trade and things will improve dramatically. Old-fashioned saddlers it will never be though!

They have been on the slide for years. I used to go up to the Haydock branch quite regularly, (usually via Derby House too!) and they had a good range for all prices. That would have been about 20 years ago. Then they started aiming for the under 12 girls market with an obsession with bling and pink and I stopped going any more. Masta went the same way - fantastic family run business with beautifully made and good value products until they sold out to the big boys. I would recommend a look at Decathlon too. Their rugs had features you didn't see anywhere else and were very well made at bargain prices so I expect their riding clothes would be the same.

Another vote for Decathlon. They don't have a huge amount of horsey gear in stock in store but they have a great range online. I only ever buy their breeches now. Very well made and great value for money.

Robinson's have gone downhill a lot since sports direct took over- not long after I started going there . I really don't like how sports direct seem to have everything reduced yet when you look at other shops they are the same price or cheaper and the big red stickers saying "was" and "now" . They started doing that in my local store until it closed down

Are oversized Robinsons mugs going to be in every horsey household soon? I had no idea SD had bought them out.... And here's me a single mum in social housing proudly without a SD mug - damn it!

Hmm, thanks for the warning! Coming from around Lymm, south of Haydock. I got other stuff for him from Hope Valley at Somerford, but he's got rugby player calves and so none of their boots were suitable. Any suggestions you have would be handy :)

Ariat Rydales if he can cope with the big foot bit.

Is that near the Wokingham one or the Hook one? As I'll end up going to the Wokingham one as it's the closest 😁

We ordered a pair of stirrups from sports direct and they sent us one stirrup and when we rang up to complain the guy on the phone couldn't understand the problem, he offered to refund us half the cost as they had sent only one. We use Hope Valley on line now and have always found them excellent.

That's hilarious 😂

Amazon sent me one side rein once... They were happy to send out another once they'd been made aware of the issue!

I've always found Robinsons quite good, but I've had good service from Sports Direct too.

I tend to use a mixture of Noble Outfitters, Decathalon, The Saddlery Shop & Wychanger for online ordering but will use Robinsons & Derby House on occassion too. To be honest, I've not had any real problems with any of them. Well, except ordering directly from Musto was the biggest headache ever ... !
