If anyone has sent a horse to Rockley for rehab pls could you pm me approximate costs? I am looking at this option and I wanted to get a rough estimate before I ring to enquire.

Horse in question is a TB and is completely crippled if loses a shoe and he is normally shod all round. He is currently being rehabbed after KS op and PSD double neurectomy (we are at the lunging stage). He has problems with SI as well.

I was hoping going barefoot might help with the hind leg PSD? and that not being shod behind might help with the SI?

Thanks

Cost were less when i sent mine but whatever the basic is there is not much else on top. Just any special supplements you want to add or usual things like wormer and vaccinations.

If you use the RVC they have already referred two horses, mine who came back to full work but subsequently injured his shoulder 2 years later and my friends who when he first came back vetted 1/2 tenth lame when trotted on a tight circle on rough stony ground but nonetheless is coping with work and hasn't relapsed a year on.

Depending on your insurance you may be able to claim half the cost back.

Hi ya. I am looking to send my girl after damage to lateral colateral ligaments in both forelimbs and suspensory damage in both hinds.
I have been told by Rockley, £150 a week.
Just got to arrange travel.

Thanks for the info. Not sure this would be covered on insurance plus insurance probably maxed out after week 2 as horse has had £2k of diagnostics + £2k surgery plus various scans etc so not much change from £5k.

Sarah, sorry to hear about your girl, hope she comes sound.

CrisO what a shame - I dont know why they just cant seem to stop self harming. What was your horse's original injury?

He was bilaterally lame in front. MRI showed mild to moderate desmitis of DDFT, DSIL and collateral ligaments in both feed. Pretty much identical.

He's very happy at the moment being free range. I bring him in once a week to check him over and he strops till he can get back out in the field. Neither rain nor cold bother him, though he is rugged. He's an ex racer with ambitions to be a native living wild and has pretty much achieved this.

His name in Frankie, you'll find him if you search on his name on the Rockley website.

CrisO - what a shame he injured himself after all of that effort. Rockley looks good though, I have scans booked at the end of the month so will have to make a decision depending on what the vet says, but I have been thinking about barefoot for this particular horse for a while.

My only concern is finding a good trimmer afterwards.

My insurance is maxed out to...ruby really needs a paper round to pay her way!!

Never mind, hey ho, fingers crossed off to Rockley we go soon

Good luck

Sarah

keep us updated. I wont have to make a decision until after I have seen the vet; he looked really good on the weekend in W/T and so I sort of got my hopes up, then he bucked and farted and tried to run off in the canter and was bunny hopping and switching behind and looked horrendous. Not sure if it is even worth going to Rockley as I fear it might just be the end for him sadly - not sure how long his suspensories will last judging by the way he was cantering.

My horse is at Rockley at the moment and is doing ridiculously well :D He was given a poor/guarded diagnosis in Sept of returning to light schooling on a surface (pedal oestitis in both and navicular LF) and was showing 2/3 /10th lame on a circle on a hard surface. I went to visit this weekend on his 8 week anniversary and he is sound (unless the ground is undulating) lunging on a hard surface and we had our first canter since August.

I would talk to Nic, she won't spin you a line and will say if she thinks she can help.

PM me if you want anymore info.
