We have a load of old saddles at yard that are being cleaned up to get sold. in the pile we found a beautiful old stubben dressage saddle. as i'm going to start doing some on my mare we tried it on her. fits perfectly. it was incredible the difference riding her in it. she's an sjer but has superb paces. we are starting at elementary though she is working beyond that. her extended trot in the dressage saddle as opposed to my close contact jumping saddle was amazing. all her paces seemed much more uphill and freer. is that big a difference normal?? the sj saddle fits her lovely but in the dressage saddle her shoulders were obviously much freer and the work was incredible...i'm looking forward to competing now!!

I found a big difference - I think a lot of it is position I can ride longer, sit up straighter and get a greater degree of collection without being moved so much.

I love my ideal jessica dressage saddle

i recently bought a cheapy dressage saddle for my mare, and although its not one of these posh expensive ones, its done wonders for my position, and her way of going! shes so much more confortable in it.... and aslong as she's happy, im happy!

Yep..a well fitting dressgae saddle really opens up thier shoulder, Sparks is totally different in her dressage saddle compared to her GP or Event.

Yea i think it was my position was much stronger. she's 17hh and i'm a small 5ft4 so she's alot of horse but i found it much easier in the dressage saddle. she's always easier to jump than flat so i'll be flatting in this for the forseeable future!
