Daughter had her appendix out 3.5 weeks ago and has been desperate to ride again, so today I let her sit on Manni (see sig) and just wander in walk around the arena.

3.5 weeks is way too soon to ride!

Even just 10 mins on his back and she was worn out and her side was hurting a bit, so she got off and sat in the car while I untacked and put him to bed.

I guess she will have to wait several more weeks before she tries again.

Yup. Waiting is far better (though very boring and frustrating!). I had to wait six months after breaking my back before I was allowed on. It was well worth it :D :D :D. The feeling was just so amazing :D :D :D Plus, being that bit older(!), I had to consider daughters and hubby

I hope she stops ouching very soon :)

Ouch! I've been there! but it's good she admitted is hurt and got off before it hurt REALLY badly. A few years ago when I had mine, both my parents who are docs only let me ride after 6 weeks of horseless torture. So don't worry, only a few weeks left for her to go :) and take it slowly at first and then build it up. Hope she feels better now by the way! xx

I rode 4 months after breaking my back :) the doctors and physio's were all giving conflicting information! It was the longest months of my life!

Aslong as your daughter is sensible then she'll be fine :)
