Bought these gloves after they where highly recommended on here:

http://www.dressagedeluxe.co.uk/Shop.asp?viewmode=ViewProduct&productid=377

Worn them about 4 times on my youngster who is just literally being walked for 10 mins at this early stage and lunged my TB today in them, took them off and noticed this had happened to one of the gloves::mad:

Bought them from dressage deluxe, have just sent them an email and am hoping for a replacement pair. Anyone else had this problem with them??

I have had a few pairs over the years and they have lasted really well. Dressage deluxe have fab customer service so I'm sure they will replace them for you. I think you have just been unlucky so hopefully the new pair will last! :)

Oh thats a shame. I've used these gloves for years and they last really really well. I would never have any other glove now!
However I wouldn't use them for lunging as too thin, did your horse pull away on the lunge at all because that will cause them to do what yours have done...

I used to hunt in Roeckl gloves, they never lasted longer than a season. OK, I have a bristly cob but even so, they are pricy enough that you think they would last. I gave up on them after I went through one pair Autumn Hunting (about 8 weeks) and another before Christmas (another 8 weeks) :-(

I hunted for two whole seasons in a pair of "Good Hands" gloves (which were about £10), then OH treated me to some Tredstep ones for my birthday. The Tredsteps still look brand new and are really comfy!

:o yes - she reared full height and bombed round a few times, but still didn't pull that hard, more of *holding* on - the other glove is unmarked.?
Surely they should last a bit better than this though?

yeah you would think so for the money that they are.
I have an old set and a 2 show sets and I was leading my foal in the old set and he charged off and one glove had a hole and scuff marks like yours, glove also got quite hot from rope burn...They are thin which is why I only use them for riding :)

The treadsteps look nice :) am thinking if i get a replacement i may put them away and use for showing instead.
When my TB comes back into work i can't see them lasting if for instance i go XC in them - i dont think they would last 5 mins!!!
Just wish i had knew this before i forked out for them

My daughter is on her 3rd pair in as many years and they are worn everyday and washed frequently!! She loves them, only ever gone at finger tips as she rides and works in them.

I would try and get them replaced, as obviously a bad pair!!

I hunted in Roeckl clothes as well, didn't last at all long for the money, I know my horse is strong but even after the first time they were showing signs off wear :( so got some SSG ones towardd end of last season feb time? and they have lasted all off this season as well and look like will be ok next season. I did cub in brown arait gloves which also seem to stand up to work, SSG and Arait lot more worth the money IMHO :)

i agree that ssg are well worth the money - have a pair of them and a pair of woofwear that have lasted over 3 years

I love them but only use them for riding. I find they last really well. I wouldn't have any other type as they also fit really well too.

That happened to my rockl too. LAsted no time and I only used to wear them competing and my horse is not strong . I now have a pair of musto which I bought for £12 find them much better quality .

I have to say, even once the 'pimples' have worn off which sometimes doesn't take that long, they're decent gloves ;) Mine have done a good 3 years if not longer, and are completely bald with holes in, but still protect the important bits! That comes from riding a very strong horse in plaited reins for a long time ;) Testing their metal recently, they still protected me keeping hold of a very big strong horse rearing and pee-ing off backwards on the lunge, and I'm currently handling a bolshy newbie who tries to run off being led and am using an old fashioned rope halter (which gives us a wonderful set of breaks) made out of the the coarsest rope in the world, and still have skin thanks to my bald, holey Roeckls ;)

I've had two pairs of these gloves and although I love the feel of them on the reins, still they didn't last half as long as I felt they should for the money. Ariat and cheapo Mark Todd now for me.

I have the exact same gloves and they are lasting well, although I love the ssg technical pair, but they seem to go in the fingers and are not cheap either. Hope you get a replacement pair, as they are lovely gloves. Treadstep are very good but I would watch with the sizing as I don't find them very generous.:)

I have three pairs of them 2 of the chesters and another more expensive pair, but I would only ever use them for riding as they are like a second skin and superb in my opinion for their 'feel' on the reins. For all yard jobs I use Mark Todd leather ones, they are thicker and really last well but a bit thick on the reins for riding.

I'm sure Dressage deluxe will change them for you.

Used these all the time until I swapped to more bobbly grippy reins and then they just destroyed mine. Swapped to MacWets and they cope far better with bobbly reins - bit tougher IMO

Just heard back from them and they want me to send them back the gloves so they can send them to their supplier for examination.
Just incase they come back with some excuse not to replace them, would paypal be able to help?

Mine look like that on the surface but still in really good nick underneath hence why I've not replaced them.

Thought it was a common/known fact about Roeckl gloves that they did that?

I use them for driving and riding, I find they do wear to like that very quickly with rubber/part rubber reins but last forever with leather. TBH I still wear them when they are worn like that :o  But do go through a pair every 6 months. They last about the same as 'good hands' ones and are very similar although the Good hands ones are cheaper ;)
