Just wondered if anyone had any experience (good or bad) of either of these vets please. I am considering using either one of them, have looked at their respective websites/googled info etc but can't decide which to approach so if anyone has any knowledge of them would be a big help thanks :)

I used chris Day about 15 years ago, and he was truly brilliant. yes he cost a lot, but I have been struggling with conventional vets for 6 months and my horse was on the verge of being sent to newmarket for a gut flora transplant. I called Chris out and he arrived like Dr Dolittle.

he looked at my horse and decided he had blocked sinusus, so he gave him acupuncture in his face. Cottage cheese liks stuff started to come down his nose within 5 mins and continued for 2 days. He gave him lavander as he was stressed and my horse loved it. he condemed my made to measure saddle, and another big brand saddle both of which had been fitted by a master saddler. He took my horse off his feed and told me to feed straights as he was sugar intolerant. And he explained to me how bad Garlic was for him and how my horse could not tolerate it at all in feed.

At the end of the day he did a full MOT on my horse, from feet to teeth, checked everything including tack and rugs, and routine. He prescribed homeopathic treatments as well as aromertherapy and acupuncture, that horse which had been so ill for 6 months suddenly improved, he had a new saddle made by Kay Humphries and Barry Swain and within a month I had a horse who looked like a picture of health. I still never feed sugar to any of my horses or garlic and I only use barry Swain saddles and have never had a problem with that horse, or any since then. I was lucky in that I was able to claim Chris as a second opinion on my insurance as he was very expensive for a call out but I would definitely recommend him.

I also recommended him to a friend whose horse was colicing every week, her vets were talking about putting the horse to sleep. Chris came out, changed the horses diet, treated him and insisted he was turned out 24/7 and would be back being ridden within weeks. He was, in fact 10 years later that horse is still with us, lives out and hasn't coliced since Chris visited him.

Wow fascinating testimonial. I heard Chris' name years ago as being quite brilliant. Thanks for sharing.

Yes thanks Bosworth for that, certainly a great recommendation. To be honest I haven't heard anything negative about Chris Day - now what about Roger Meacock? Anyone?
