Ive been toaday to view the hunters going into the sale, looking at the sales catalouge, I shortlisted a possible 15 to look at. Got there none of them the quality I expected the main one I went to look at was lame so couldnt view, we narrowed it down to 2 to see be ridden, the first was spooking so bad in school would hardly move, and not much of a jump. 2nd one very pottery choppy strided, very poor jump, then stopped. Then they told us they were looking in the region of 7K for them all, none of them looked like they were worth that much, poor leg conformation, all badley shod. One i liked had good write up in the catalouge, but got told it was good out hunting but took alot to get it to that point could be quite cheeky. If Iam going to pay that sort of money I think they have to be the right and finished article. So all in all a long and disapointing journey. Iam sure if people go to the sale they will feel the same as us, hope by then they have got them going better to show them off.

See your point but also don't forget, these hunters are only just off from their summer break; most were still in the field a fortnight ago so they will not be fit and ready for work yet; it would be silly to expect that and unfair to the horses and his staff but a lot of work will have gone into them by the time of the sale when you should have a totally different animal to look at.
I personally wouldn't have been put off by your comments but then I have the benefit of having seen the Rimmer horses in action for quite some years and hunt, they surely do!

Rest or no rest I expected them to be sound! Plus no matter how much work they put into them conformation wise they were not that good. Although the one I really went to see was very nicely put together but unfortunaltly lame.

Having hired one of Rogers horses last season ( and it was one of the best days hunting i've had so far) I can say that I am very tempted to go up to the sale. The particular horse I rode is for sale, and he gave me a lovely day.
Anyone else thinking of going to the sale??

Having recently bought one of his horses, I'm very tempted to go. If I was closer, I would certainly be there, but I'm umming and erring at the moment. There are two tempting me.

Guilford I cant tell you how disapointed I was, looked nothing like on the catalouge link.

Sorry to hear that. I did start to be suspicious when reading round the descriptions as they are very repetitive! But bear in mind as someone else said that they may still be fresh or green.

Can I ask which horses they were? My loan horse is on rimmers in the livery section so I will have seen them. I have to admit its a bit of a scruffy yard but it's in merseyside, which isn't very horsey.

PLEASE CAN ANYONE TELL ME ABOUT FRASIER THE GREY IRISH DRAUGHT TYPE HORSE WHO SEEMS QUITE QUIET. HE IS FOR SALE AT MR RIMMERS YARD, I WISH TO HUNT HIM AS A ALMOST NEWCOMER ALTHOUGH IVE BEEN RIDING MORE THAN 30 YEARS. DO LOW LEVEL HUNTER TRIALS, RIDING CLUB STUFF ETC. ANY VIEWS ON HIM

Please can gone to ground tell me which horse he hired and how he behaved.
