So how does it work now Badminton has cancelled?

WFP has won leg 1 and 2, but now there is no leg three. Would they bend the rules to mean if he wins Burghley again this year he has done the grand slam? Or do his two consecutive wins carry over to the next Badminton?! Or does he have to start again?

Anyone know?

I think they should just give it to him!!!
But really they have to give him another chance... So Burghley I think

I'd love to see an answer to this too . . . although if they move it to Burghley, that means we need to go . . . we've been three times - three years apart - and every time he has won ;). My daughter Em jokes that we're his good luck charm ('cause it's all about us dontcha know ;)).

I don't know the answer but I would take a guess and say that he will have to win Badminton next year because it's the three events consecutively...

Could be totally wrong though, will be interesting to find out! :)

I just asked the same question on the Badders FB page - would it move to Luhmuhlen I wonder?

Thing is Badders is a unique test . . . not even Burghley is as big an ask . . . so is there anything comparable? Of the four stars, I think Badminton is the toughest (although I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than I will put me straight).

I think they should shift it on to Badminton next year actually... gives them another year to drum up more publicity, and, most importantly, it will mean he CANNOT retire after the Olympics as he's threatened to do... ;) ;) ;) I will be totally gutted if he retires. Always such a pleasure to watch, truly amazing horseman.

Completely agree . . . such an elegant and sympathetic rider . . . I remember the first time I saw him ride - at Highclere probably about 10 years ago - noticed him on the cross country course but he really caught my eye at the end of the event - he was schooling a young horse in the warm up arena as they were taking down the fences - in his shirt sleeves, very relaxed, just magical to watch . . . and I didn't know who he was then - but I stood and gawped for a good 10 minutes.

I know Badminton has been cancelled for this weekend but is there a chance that now offices are open they would find another date that it could be rescheduled to run on? If the course is built would it would be a possibility if a suitable date was available?

Sam Clark has tweeted that they chatted to Rolex yest about the possibility of Badminton being cancelled & they said it has to be 3 different events. So Badminton next year...

I don't consider burghley to be an easier 4# than badminton with its undulating terraine, different yes easier no .

Burghley is, IMO, a far tougher task as the terraine also plays a huge part. When considering his first 4* my instructor was talking to Andrew Nicholson and he advised Badders as a better first time run than Burghley and he should know ;) :) As it was he didn't get in to Badders so ran at Burghley instead (and went clear :D )

WFP cant retire  :( He makes it all look to easy and is a pleasure to watch even when on something green he still makes it look effortless.
