As title really - has anyone incorporated the 3 day event with other touristy things?

I've just been looking at the tourism sites and I can't see much that will persuade my non-horsey husband that he would enjoy a trip to Kentucky!

Woah - Kentucky is AMAZING! It is going to be very horsey but still of interest to non-horsey people I think. Farm tours are a must do. The scale of some of these places is amazing - fantastic hue farms, thousands of acres and a heck of a lot of money. Ashford is lovely, Calumet, Lanes end, Castleton Lyons and so many more.
Racing at Keeneland, or Quarter horse racing at six-mile (not ure about time of year) and visitng the rest of the horsepark. I also visited Nashville from KY when I was there - maybe you could tie that in a the end of your trip? That was really fab!

to be honest there is not much else but horsey stuff It claims to be the horse capital of the world so most things are horse centered. We had a great time visiting the studs, day at the races, raceyards, horsepark & museum. The scenery is great very green open fields filled with racehorses, getting the jist? one thing not horses but very interesting tour of the distillery they make fantastic bourbon !!!!!!!!:D:D:D

I spent 3 weeks there and went to Rolex on my last weekend. We went to the Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland, the museum at Churchill Downs, Kentucky Horse Park, Thunder over Louisville (amazing firework display), rode Tennesse Walking horses, went to various studs and training yards (TB, QH, saddlebred etc) and we visited the headquarters of various equestrian organisations like the Jockey Club. We also did some non touristy things like going to the University of Kentucky and University of Louisville and had some fascinating lectures at the Gluck Centre. On the non-horsey front I recommend Atlanta Bread and Abercrombie!

Daughter has just come back from Kentucky, she didn't have a lot of free time but went to the Horse Park and Keeneland, both look great. She is in trouble with her uncle as she never thought to bring him back a bottle of bourbon, and he picked her up from Heathrow! :(
