won by French veteran rider (just turned 60 ! and a gentleman) Michel Robert and his mare Kellemoi de Pepita

In a vid of him after victory, MR is practically crying while kissing his mare every 2 minutes and repeating how much he owes it all to her...
That man is and always has been a gentleman in the ruthless SJ world, known for respecting his horses and still genuine after so many years on the circuit

A great ambassador for equestrianism.

He's amazing, I have his book here and it is the most incredible book to read. Not just about 'how to ride'

and jumping exercises, like usual books but all about pschychology and horsemanship as well. I've read it from cover to cover about 10 times now. MR could have suceeded with whatever he did in his life!

Yes, he's one of my favourtites. First time I recall seeing him was in the World Championships in Dublin in 1982. Interestingly, he was a top-class eventer before switching to SJ. Long may he continue!

Yes SJFAN and I believe that his eventing background explains his approach of horses, which has always been different (for the better) from the other french pro SJers

The other French veteran I like to watch is Herve Godignon. Some of the other French look far too active (electric seats) and get their horses over excited.

i love Michel Robert he is a legend but i think that the French will be back with a bang at windsor next year as they have some very impressive younger showjump riders like Nicholas-whose- surname-I- haveteandmpoarily-forgotten and also, in brussels this week, kevin staut who is the most beautiful rider. love watching the french on the whole they are just class.

well done gone to france, you have spotted it! No i am not, it is freezing cold and raining and though they will have the roof on i suppose at the stadium it will be damp and horrid sitting there for six hours and frankly after the snide comments yesterday i can do without seeing few people there!!
and Flo i think the surname begins with D, pretty sure he jumped in Prague or Helsinki so i am just off to look x
