Love them
Hate them
Are a sign of ban conformation
Make horses look ugly/cute

Personally I love them as my chap has one

wellllllllll I dont think it takes much to work out that I love them a bit too much!! But then I may be a bit biased

I don't worry too much about looks as i don't do showing. So as long as it can do the job (in my case jump) then i wouldn't mine if it was a cow x donkey.

We've had a couple wih roman noses before and they always seem genuine.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Roman noses, especially Cleveland Bay ones!!

For the showring I would suggest a really wide hunter noseband to break the face up a bit.

Kal - would I be marked down then in the show ring due to a roman nose?

You shouldn't do but some judges may not like it. Same with anything in showing really, just depends what kind of judge you get.

On the right horse...love them on a shire, but dislike it when you see an ID with a huge roman nose.

Oddest sight is a horse with a roman nose, and then a weedy neck with no topline...looks like a trayanasorous rex!!

We have one on our yard, he is nickname by the liveries as Fugly! as he is seriously F***ing ugly, huge head, huge ears and huge roman nose, his owner brought some of her friends to see him and they just laughed at him and said what made you buy that!! One of them is a Showing Judge so I think some of them would put you at the back of the line up if they have a pet hate for a roman nose.

agree with this, looks gorgeous if the rest of the horse is in propotion with its nose - if not then just looks wrong!!!!

i was once placed reserve champion show cob because the judge said my cob's head was too pretty and she preferred the "more workmanlike roman nosed head of the other cob" i like roman noses but WTF??

I'm not too fussed about them but i'd rather not have them, I do think they are a teeny bit ugly.
Saying that, two of our big hunters have roman noses, and I thought they were both very hansome, wouldn't you agree?

I don't mind them on the right horse - ie big and chunky like a heavy should have. That said, shires have them and clydes should not.

How you could you resist this big pink nose?

Actually at the time I very much could as it was covered in molasses

Nope - just pop on the cashal crusader with the long nose - both my boys have very pink noses that are kept in perfect kissing condition with these on during the summer.

Chancer has a black kiss spot on his nose which he offers to have kissed - he can be very cute at times.

Ah

My chap hates his big lugs being touched and is petrified of velcro

so I doubt Id be able to get one of those on him - wish I could though
