Don't know if anyone has been, but there were at least half a dozen feral dogs everywhere we stayed or got out of the car, 99% of them were very thin and the locals were less than friendly towards them, although the dogs still remained friendly and sweet

does anyone know any way I can help these dogs??? It's really bad.

My hubby works for WSPA ( World Society For the Protection of Animals) and they have member societies working in regions all round the world - you can help support their work or find out more by going to www.wspa.org.uk .

The problem of feral dogs is huge in many countries and the threat of rabies means that they are often poisoned, shot or killed in inhumane ways ( he's seen young pups thrown alive into rubbish trucks to be crushed

) - nowadays he works mostly in the Middle East where WSPA has opened the first animal shelter/veterinary education centre where locals can bring their animals to be neutered and treated.

Another huge problem is the treatment of horses and donkeys in poorer countries - WSPA works with Brooks to try and stop the appalling abuse of these poor animals who in many cases are worked until they literally drop dead between the shafts of their carts - do support their work if you can

I'm afraid a lot of countries are like this, Turkey and Tunisia are both pretty dire, but luckily they usually have rescue centres or compassionate people that help in some shape or form so you might find something on the internet that you could donate to.

I havent been there yet, but my brothers a teacher in Romania, he has told me of the appaling lifestyles the animals receive there.
