just a quick post, to show you how Ron and Tom are looking - and to show you how special Ron can be!!

I took their rugs off this morning in their barn, expecting them to rush off and roll.... but no, they stood and ate haylage, so there's obviously no grass at all!!

so, how are they looking?
personally I'm disappointed with how they look - they've not had a hard hunting season, and they're not usually quite this lean in April! plus they are soooo scurfy (despite a half stubbs scoop of linseed meal in each dinner!) and they're not really growing coats in :( so I daren't leave them out naked over night yet!
(apologies for pants photo angles, I was not interesting enough to ignore haylage for!)

Ron insists on eating off the floor, clearing up Tom's scraps. Tom only eats out of the rack  can't bring himself to eat off the floor, though he carefully rearranges it for Ron! the result is this...

Nice to see someone else enjoying the weather
TBH your horses look in great condition, nice working weights :D
Wouldnt worry about the scurf and stuff, they will get their backs in the mud soon, and glem muddily at you

:D he's gone into grumpy old man mode at the moment - EVERYTHING is hard work, and he Can't be bothered, and he just wants Grass..... :)

he needs his hair doing again - but that picture shows I shouldn't let Tom do it! :)

I would say they look quite lean but not thin, perfect for this time of year really. Considering what a rotten winter it has been. If you are worried, i have found the blox i give dee from halleys horse feeds help. :)

Can't help condition wise but Ron is adorable :):)

I think the word you're looking for is "Special"!! :D

but thank you folks - I'm just concerned that they aren't getting the grass they need really - though as you can see they get plenty of haylage (basically ad lib), and then a feed of half scoop (stubbs) of linseed meal, half scoop of fast fibre, and half scoop of top spec performance cubes, with a bit of chaff to stop Ron just inhaling it! they are hardly short on calories!
