Thanks Sleepingdragon. I don't like shopping on eBay I'm afraid so I can't go down that route.

What size horse is the rope halter for? Was looking on the Dinky Rugs website the other day and they have rope halters, but mainly for youngstaock/dinky ponies....

xx

Thanks everyone! Off to check all those sites now and will have one ordered before the afternoon is out I'm sure.

Sleepingdragon - tis very true I'm afraid. I really hate eBay with a passion. I don't think anything Dinky would fit Oliver 'cos he's got a big head lol.

Make one! You need a piece of rope and er. that's it. You tie 2 knots in it and with a bit of practice you can make them snug fit anything from moo cow to a reindeer. There has to be stuff about it on the interenet, there are a few ways of splicing or knotting the rope. Maybe I'm just stingy.

puddicat - I knew someone would advise me to make my own. Unfortunately, I have absolutely no talents in this direction. If a button falls of one of my OH's shirts I tell him to buy a new one. I just don't do making things. Nothing wrong with being stingy. Can you tell I'm from Yorkshire?

Go on try it, its really easy you don't need talent otherwise I couldnt do it and it's very satisfying to do

Try it with any old bit of rope to begin with and you'll soon get better with practice. I use to teach 12-14 year old Pony club kids to do it so I'm sure you can (we also used to make haynets which is gret fun). It's also useful to know that you can halter anything at any time so long as you've got a piece of rope (I got a ewe out of a supermarket car park using one made from an old lead rope that was in the back of my car). I come from not far away from you and I reckon Yorkshire should be the home of the handmade halter

Hmm, thinking about it I used to be a dab hand at making those horrible macrame plant holders as a child. Don't know how old you are so you may not know what I am talking about but they involved knotting brown, hairy string into a sort of bag so maybe, just maybe I could do it.........
