I quite like the look of rope reins for long hacks. I'm guessing they're comfy as they're used so much for endurance, but do you lose a lot of feel?

Could you share pros and cons, please?
Thank you.

Could you recommend any in particular?

I've done a little research online and some people seem to think they could give rope burns (I always ride in gloves) or that they slip through the fingers easily.

As you say, looks like you just have to choose the right ones!

I've got a rope bridle and rope reins from Australia and although its over 12yo now it still washes up good as new. I love the feel of the reins, nice weight and not slippery when wet nor do they rub like rubber reins do. The extra weight in them compared to regular reins seems to help get a lighter contact and natural head carriage. I'd hate to ride in anything else now!
