So far my attire is

Hacking jacket ( he is hunter type)
Shirt and tie
Brown gloves
Showing cane
Velvet hat
Cream jods

I'm stuck on boots. Website says black or brown. My brown ones are soooo comfy, my black ones not so much. Every picture I look at the riders boots are black. My saddle is black as well!! Want to wear brown but feeling u should wear black! Think colour of my boots will be the least of my problems!!

Could you dye your brown boots? Brown to black on leather footwear is pretty effective as long as you strip them back properly to start with something like meths.

I love my brown boots and would be afraid to mess them up!! Comp is on Sunday so doesn't give me a lot of time anyway. Thanks for the suggestion.

I agree with Carrottom, wear what is the most comfortable. If you ride better in the brown boots that will go more in your favour than riding around with sore toes or pinched calves! Good luck either way!

Thanks for your opinions. I always thought brown boots, brown gloves and a hacking jacket would look smart. It does say on the website black or brown so I shouldn't get marked down for brown?

You won't get marked down for brown boots no. You will stand out for wearing them but hopefully for all the right reasons!

I used to stride into the ring on my (now retired) 17hh long legged, stunningly beautiful exracer and everyone went WOW! Some days this was a blessing as you couldn't be missed, you couldn't be mixed up with another plain bay. And some days, as we were cantering sideways instead of trotting, I really wished I had a plain, generic little bay that blended in ???

Standing out can be a hindrance or a help.

I'm swaying towards brown!! They are dark so don't really stand out! I wear them for stressage, have done for years!!

Spurs, I only have roller ball ones, should I wear those?
