A day of 'first one since the accident' happenings.

She was competing as an individual so a respectable 9.30 start from the yard although R was down there at 7am plaiting and polishing Bertie. She and her Mum went to walk the course when we arrived (I didn't go - rather not see how big the jumps are close up
blush.gif
). They thought it wasn't too bad although some of the teams were having a few problems. R's Dad did Bert's studs while they were walking the course and bumping into people who were seeing R for the first time since the crash and were telling her off for giving them such a scare (sorry Gina, Bridget and their Dad).

Stressage - the heavens opened and Bertie turned his bum into the weather during his halt and was generally a bit tense. The odd wrong lead problem I think but 36.? and a comment from the judge that the weather didn't help - so not too bad for the first dressage test since coming back.

SJ - he was very relaxed and did a really brilliant clear round - no problems whatsoever and it wasn't that small (horrible planks
frown.gif
) and no misses from R. I think all the small classes she's been doing with him are helping him to overcome his SJ demons but we'll see.

XC - think he was thrilled to be actually going cross-country again at last. I got there too late to see her leave the start box but heard they were clear over 1-2-3 but then 'loose horse, close the park gates'
crazy.gif
and then 'Rosie C has come off but is on her feet' and 'horse has been caught and she's remounted and continuing' then .... nothing about her for ages until 'RC has come through the woods very nicely'. It seems Bertie did one of his massive jumps and she didn't have the strength to stay on as she would have done last season - then they had a stop at the coffin, partly because Rosie was a bit worried about kicking him on. Sadly, between us all, we'd forgotten to change Bertie's bit from whatever he has DR/SJ to whatever it is he has XC so he was very strong and Rosie isn't yet (although she always did have to use the stronger bit for him XC).

So, her first fall but also her first completion of an ODE and apart from the fall an excellent day. We were very
crazy.gif
about the fall and think it proves that Rosie needs to slow down until she gets a bit stronger but needless to say she doesn't agree and is just furious with herself for coming off.

Some vid of the SJ and the last bit of the XC (I missed the dr because I was queuing for the loo and because she went in early - arrived just in time to see her final halt and salute, doh!)

A glass of delicious organic west country pear cider and a chocolate muffin for ploughing through this - cheers!

Eta - Sorry, didn't manage to meet up with Thistle though heard B and the horses names mentioned several times

Well done her - she looks superb SJ, it wasn't small was it?! She does look a little tired finishing the XC but in another way I suppose to have the first tumble out of the way with no harm done is no bad thing, it was going to happen eventually. I am sure with time she will get back to being as strong as she was before, I am in awe of her progress. I believe I said right at the start I bet she is back eventing before me - and so she is! That is amazing!

Good luck with getting her to slow down, I don't rate your chances....

oh my goodness she is such a wonder woman - am dead impressed by how quickly she is back eventing...! although am a little
shocked.gif
by it!
smile.gif

congrats and commiserations - at least they are all in one piece

Wow - can't believe R is back eventing so quickly.

I'm sure she is getting stronger all the time. Hope the rest of her season goes well (even if not as well or as fast as she would like)

I bet she was furious, but at least the first tumble is out of the way. Was that her new BP that is now christened?
wink.gif
She looks very stylish though and I'm sure her strength will come back sooner than she thinks.
grin.gif

It was a real heart stopping moment when I heard she'd come off MM, not at all nice
frown.gif
. We don't seem to be able to make her take it steady at all - her Mum and I would like for her to maybe have a go at an open PN so at least you'd know what to expect but she's adamant she wants to do the PC area trials ..... 'sigh'.
But as Jules and SC said - that's her first fall over and no harm done thank God .... 'weak smile'

Yup - new BP christened Nicky and she'll be delighted to know that you think she looks stylish
tongue.gif
Thank you Fiona and T_c xx

Cripes, first fall - heart stopping moment im sure but relieved to hear that she was all fine and dandy
smile.gif

Agree with previous that she is looking as stylish as ever, never known anyone with more determination than her!

Blooming well done that girl!! Have to agree, she does look super stylish and is doing a fantastic job, good on her, and what a fab reflection she is on the amazing support team she has behind her!

Thank you Sachak and Alwaysbroke, some say determined - others say bl**dy minded but the end result's the same.
KatB, thank you and for the mention of her support team (her Mum and Dad who are almost as bl**dy minded as she is lol). I digress, but haven't commented on your new baby yet and have to say she looks to be seriously exciting - pictures asap please.

I think they have almost been as improtant in this as Rosie's bloody mindedness!!

And thanks re. my girl, she will be alot of fun, not sure about exciting yet

Did she fall at Sleepy Hollow - there is a fair old drop there if you over jump - think it was fence 5 and 6. The fence judge comes on here so we'll see if Rosie gave her a heart attack! She did say there had been 2 falls at her fence I can understand how she would then stop at the in part of the coffin as it's a similar question, substanstial log drop.

Thought she looked tired coming down to the finish but still riding better than some of the numpties you see out BE sometimes!

B decided to retire W, she slipped on takeoff, after a rainstorm. at the big ditch pallisade at the end of the course (14/15?) and ended up in the ditch. B banged her head and W grazed her eye so we withdrew F and took them home. Came back in the car to watch R though!

Not sure if it was Sleepy Hollow but it sounds quite likely - is it in some trees? Paul said it was in the trees so didn't see it. It would be good to hear exactly what happened. Rosie said there was a jump, then 4 or 5 strides to another but she was only 1 stride from the second one when she landed on the ground and so was Bertie which is why she thought he'd done one of his huge jumps.
Oh dear, poor B and W - hope they are both ok today. I guess she was XCing when R was dressaging - that was quite a downpour.
Rosie was tired when she finished. It was a long day for her - walk the course, dressage/SJ/XC - much the most energy sapping day she's had so far I would say and not much chance to rest. Stamina is a bit short as yet.

Hey!

Wow, I'm so pleased you're now able to post reports on her on horses than off them :-).

Sounds like a good day, and agree it's not a bad thing to hit the deck and be able to get back on, good for her confidence, and recovery psychologically etc....

She's done amazingly well, and so has everyone around her too, even though she doesn't seem to know the term 'take it easy'....

Well done R, and I look forward to hearing more lovely reports like this.

Wow, well done Rosie. She and Bertie look fab.
She must have been thrilled with the SJ...then furious with the XC! Back to the ups and downs of eventing...and I bet she loved it!
She is going to continue to get steadily stronger for many months yet...this is just the beginning.
Congratulations Team Rosie....great to read your reports again, RF.

Just wanted to say that Rosie's SJ round looked brilliant (the type of round I would love to be able to jump one day!) She has done amazingly well to come so far in such a short space of time and you must all be incredibly proud of her.

She looks brilliant as always! At least she has had a harmless fall out the way.
As soon as she has a few more ODE's under her belt i'm sure her strength will build up!
