Yesterday Saturday 01 August 2015 I had the pleasure of attending the Ross Nye Stables - 50 Years in Hyde Park Party 1965 -2105.
I used to keep my horse in North London and hack to Hyde Park where I would often meet Ross Nye leading a hack around the sand tracks in Hyde Park.
Ross and Kirsty Nye also very kindly lent me one of their horses 'Rhys' when I escorted Bob Champion through Hertfordshire and London on the last two days of his Edinburgh to Buckingham Palace sponsored Ride for Life Charity Ride in August 1996.
The stables were decked out with numerous interesting photographs of the many years of horse riding in Hyde Park and Rotton Row.
The party was well attended and Lila Blum the owner of the now closed riding stables on the South side of Hyde Park was also there.
Ross Nye's horses were not at the stables as they were having their annual Summer holiday at Ross's farm close to Guildford.
Ross and Kirsty Nye also organise the annual Horseman's Sunday Church Service which this year will be on Sunday 20th September 2015 at St Johns Hyde Park Hyde Park Crescent London W2 2QD
It was lovely to meet so many old friends and acquaintances.

I love it there have been a few times now to ride round the park and always feel like I've entered a movie set it's so surreal! A wonderful place!

I used to ride out from there in 1973 / 1974.
I rode on the very early morning ride before I went to work.
Riding into the park in the dark by the light of the street lamps was magical.

How nice to celebrate their 50 years in the Park - As I posted here, Ross Nye Stables made our own 50th anniversary a memorable day for OH and me back in June. It is really special that there are still horses to ride in the Park and that anyone is welcome to ride them - and shown how.
