Anyone any experience? My boy is being referred there for some lameness tests and were going down in next couple of weeks for the test just wanted to know people's thoughts?
Rossdales are excellent. Your horse will be in (very) good hands. I have always found them lovely to deal with as well as having some of the best vets in the country
ETS: last time I took a horse over I parked next to Mark Todd's lorry so that should give you some idea of how highly they're thought of!
I was there last autumn with my horse. They make you feel at ease and explain everything very clearly.
Seems to take ages for the investigations - which we weren't part of. As I hate hanging around I have to do something.
You can wait in the coffee room or, if you came in a lorry and don't want to drive you can walk into the village. We found a small sandwich shop that actually delivers to Rossdales and had a bacon sarnie there.
If you can drive, go into Newmarket and watch the lads ride out, also a waitrose there which looks like it has a cafe.
The vet went through all our scans on the computer with us and spotted the problem. My horse is now sound and well.
Excellent place - lovely people and excellent vets. Last time I was there was chatting to racehorse transporter who'd brought Master Minded all the way there
My 29 year old mare was referred there last year to have her sinus's flushed out as she had a discharge that would not respond to anti-biotics. She stayed there for 10 days and was treated like a princess. I went up each morning to walk her out in hand. She settled in there and to be honest seemed to really enjoy it there. I was most impressed and can not thank them enough for their care and consideration.
I live literally five minutes away from there and they have treated my last three horses. The diagnostics department is amazing. They are not gung ho about using up all your insurance money and I've always felt that we both were looked after very well there. I am lucky as they are my actual regular vets too so I know a lot of them really well.
I can echo what everyone else has said, very professional, excellent staff and top class vets who explain everythiing really well. Horses are treated like royality, unfortunately for them my boy was an utter twit whilst he was there
Would always go for Greenwood and Ellis- Now Newmarket equine hospital, have the top facilities in the country, don't try and spend your money and lovely vets. However only had two dealings with Rossdales which both have been pretty awful and wouldn't use them as my vets.
My 5 year old had 3 trips to Rossdales, the last one of which was a one way journey. The care and attention we all had was brilliant, from hope, investigation, diagnosis, treatment, guarded hope, re-examination to no hope and aftercare. Would thoroughly recommend.
I have used Rossdales countless times. Sadly the first time I lost my lovely gelding after colic surgery, but I know it wasn't their fault. He was around 850 kg and on his back for so long for the surgery that his hind legs were paralysed afterwards. I have used them for 3 other horses since, the last time was for my gelding's KS operation. I cannot recommend them highly enough. He also had a bone chip removed from his hock by them a year earlier, and my beloved mare was diagnosed for her shoulder injury there. Sadly, nothing could be done for her, but she has made a good enough recovery to be 100% paddock sound.
Brilliant place! Cannot speak highly enough of them, very professional and caring. Saved my horses life once after emergency surgery and operated on him for a more routine op more recently, the vet that did it rang my vet for an update just to see how he was doing a month later and he thought the pony was lovely. Very nice very compassionate didn't have to ring at all
