Not urgent, but does anyone know of any yards within about 4 miles of Rotherham (center) that does DIY livery.
Must haves are
Post and rail fencing
60x20 arena (indoor or out) with a reasonable as in not deep surface
Good hacking preferably off road, but quiet roads are ok
Ability for individualish turnout, they are fine together but a nightmare with others!

Outdoor stables are prefered, need to be close to 12x12 size.
I have had a drive around, but most yards that are advertised are further north, and the tack shop that I did see was closed so I could not look on the notice board.

PM is fine if you don't want to post!

Ooooh think that one is going to be hard to be honest

Trishia Wiles does DIY in upper whiston. Shes got an outdoor and indoor school.. although the indoor is dire and the outdoor was pretty grim also. However post and rail fencing would be a no, as would individual turnout.

Wickersley area... pashleys certainly did DIY but again, you'd have no chance on individual turnout and he only had a poor outdoor school... the turnout was very restricted also.

Just down from there is a private livery yard hid behind a huuuge white house but again, no individual turnout and i dont think they have a school (nice hacking though if you dont mind crossing a couple of roads)

Further out than that.. theres a couple dotted out by where Masserellas is (im pretty sure masserellas is still full livery only but could be worth checking since their facilities are stunning and again, awesome hacking)

Howarth lodge is down by Whiston crossroads but i *think* Jill stopped doing DIY and again, no chance on the individual turnout - her outdoor school is decent though and lots of group turnout over summer at least.

Parklands is at aston which is more sheffield i guess.. not sure if Sammy is only full livery again though.

Theres a couple out towards kimberworth that are purely DIY but i really think you'd be pushing it for the post and rail individual turnout and i dont know of any with those facilities.

GL in your search, sadly most of the yards i know that could offer those facilities are either a bit far out or would be full livery only.

Oh! one more thought but i have a niggling feeling she stopped doing livery completly. There was a nice DIY yard in Morthern with old stone stables and good hacking. No indoor school but an outdoor... no individual t/o but it was post and rail. It was Jill Smith who owned that and she used to work at Parklands but i seem to remember she sold up and it went to someone who had their own horses.

Wow thanks a lot, thats more than I managed to find!! Looks as if it will be a case of finding somewhere for the horse and then sorting myself out within reach of them!!

I thought there would have been loads of places in that area, Masserellas are a good option though, or perhaps I will have to go towards the trans penine way to find something.

If you wanted to consider moving more towards Sheffield, there is Wharncliffe Warmbloods or Pennine Equine at Wortley. Good hacking and good facilities, not sure about turnout situation. If you google wharncliffe warmbloods they have a website and a link to Pennine Equine on their site.

Thanks, Pennine Equine were going to be a bit far for me (I did have a look around there) but they do have individual turnout although I would need to try to get higher fencing as mine would be over theirs in no time! If I have to adjust my own living area I would probably aim to be within range of them as they were very nice people.

I did not go to Wharncliffe, I have a feeling they did not do DIY, which was a pity.

Masserellas is a beautiful yard but im not sure what the livery situation is there anymore. I was with them for a while but because i was being trained by someone based there temporarily.. i dont know if its an open livery yard or still private (was mainly private clients when i was there)

However it has a mahoooosive indoor school with full mirros, post and rail fencing and im sure it had an outdoor menage also. The stables are beautiful and the hacking is great.

The only thing id say is that it was rather expensive due to the name and family associated with it

One more suggestion but its a bit far out again.. Selina Cawkwell is in Tickhill (she of course trained with ronnie masseralla when he was still doing that and has been on the UK YR showjumping team). Shes now got her own business importing and selling warmbloods and rents a very large equestrian centre at tickhill. I dont know if she does DIY but the facilities are awesome.

Her website at least is:-

http://www.miltonwarmbloods.co.uk/

and should give you contact details.

Tickhill would not be too far, I was looking at Maltby and I don't think its that much further, will pop in when I go that way and see if they can help.
