Hello,
Can anyone give me any idea of approximate cost of scoping for ulcers and if positive cost of gastroguard ? My Pony came to me after being turned away for a few years, during this time I know he became very thin over the winters although picked up in summer, he definitely didn't have enough forage over the winters - he was given no additional hay or feed and wasn't rugged. Since coming to me the main issue has been keeping weight off but I have made sure he had plenty of soaked hay and access to oat straw, free access to shelter and lots of turnout on a track. He looks well, seems happy and content behaves impeccably under saddle but remains very girthy on tacking up. I have had his back checked, he has a new properly fitted saddle but I wonder if his previous malnourishment may have left lasting stomach ulcers. He is not insured and doesn't seem bothered except initial girthing but if it is not stupidly expensive I feel I should look into it. Thanks !
