Ok, just need some very rough figures how much a school would cost ... paying a company to do it from start to finish? I know cost varies with surface cost ect but roughly how many thousands are we talking?

Indeed, I had a friendly builder do it whilst doing our house at same time. Cost me £9K about 8 years ago and I made a big error and let him bring me sand to check, and stupidly bought wrong kind of sand so it's far to deep/mobile when dry. But the fence and the underneath are brilliant.

So that works out, a bit more, due to inflation, etc and beter surface.

Hi, I've been looking into this lately too, its around the 15k minimum mark from what i seem to have found- with prices increasing for if the ground is very unlevel, bad access etc and obviously depending on factors such as surfaces etc. some prices i've been quoted as as high as 20k.

Sorry to hijack the post but I'm now gonna start looking into how much all the materials are, and to go down the DIY route- has anyone any ideas how much this costs?

Sounds about right..
A friend of mine did his own last year and it cost him £18k materials only, many many weeks of tough labour and a done in back!
lovely 60x80 arena, split into 2 so liveries don't argue! but to be honest it was a hell of a lot of work and a lot of work.
If you have the manpower I'd be tempted to go the DIY route as it certainly saves you money but only if you're determined!

menage ? we built ours ourselves and it cost 9 - 10 k , and we know it has been done properly.. it doesnt flood even with all this rain. I wudnt trust anyone to build one for me ever, most rip you off, and none didnt even specify in their quotes where the excess water from the drainage system would go to !! and we have clay soil. !!!

I've been investigating this too lately. I've had good helpful quotes from 'Trackright' (about £16000 plus vat) and Jacksons (about £20000). These would be for the whole job start to finish inc fence, gate etc.

I hasten to add that I could never afford this in a million years for private use but it is for a funded project.

For a company to do the work for a 20 x 40 you'll be looking at about £20,000.

Ours is 60 x 40 and was built by a contractor (who is fab at tem!) and with the surface (silica sand and Spring-Tek rubber) has cost £50,000.
