what did you think of the idea of putting two 'fighting' TB racehorses - one a colt - side by side in a pairs harness to a wagon - all in the space of an afternoon ?

Scriptwriters having a very off day for 'plot'

Ludicrous.

It's not real

It wasn't the same horses in the cart (the colt had grown atleast a hand, maybe two).

Have to agree that the story line is getting more far fetched by the minute.

I do normally - but that just struck me as soooooo stupid

It also made me think (as per another thread on License to own a horse) that some muppets will go out and buy a cart and harness and just stick their horse in it - "'cos they saw it on TV"

so whilst one part of me just thought stupid - and enjoyed the rest as 'entertainment' the other part of me just had this niggle that some poor horse(s) could be in for a bit of carriage driving ...................

I am watching it, because its a horsey programme. I feel it could have been miles better and quite clearly the t.v company have not got the right people around them and gathered their facts.

As someone just said, they watch it and just switch off, which I am doing, otherwise I would get annoyed.

I did find, last nights programme a little disjointed and it does not really have a good strong story line, which makes you look forward to the next weeks viewing.

Its such a shame because a series on horses could be fantastic, we need someone to submit a good script to the t.v producers.

i loved it when joana came in from the gallops on the colt and got off and left it in the middle of the yard and said stay there. that cracked me up and then he went into the barn and came back out again and the colt had gone! probebly took itself in and untacked itself did make me laugh

I've counted at least f 'bay colts', one of which at least was a filly... And Blagger changes shape with scary regularity.

But they have tried, it's just that the script writers are not horse-men/women and the horse-men are not scriptwriters, and even if they are, the producers a) haven't a clue and b) don't care and will sacrifice any amount of authenticity for the chance to put in some soft focus lighting and harmonic music.

And the barn owl was making the calls of a tawny owl...did anyone else notice that?

it's ludicrous and should come with a health warning - but we're all stil watching it...

I noticed that too!! Race horses that can also drive, never heard of that before, especially seen as they hadn't even been broken to drive in the first place!!

And i have never heard of 2 horses trying to kill each other whilst being ridden either. Not like that anyway

Would rather watch that one a sunday night than heartbeat though

I noticed the horse left loose in the yard as well - funny

horses having a 'go' at each other - that apparently used to happen in the 20s when someone I knew (now long dead) was apprenticed at Epsom. Some colts did try to savage horses alongside (or their jockeys) going up the gallops.

Whoever trains the horses to appear as if they're going for each other is good though...

previous post should have read four other 'colts'

I too am the same I keep watching hoping that it will improve. Finally next week we will see some racing but what puzzles me is that which horses are they using to race with?
If it is from Doherty's yard then how the hell could they be fit enough?
I have not seen any of the usual training methods employed yet considering it is based on racing in Ireland.
It is so far from reality it makes me cringe. Would love to be in the press room now asking the other journo's what they make of it.
From the old boys the words 'codswallop' no doubt lol
