Rough Diamond

Think its great PR for horses, but did find it quite amusing most of the time! Just wished that my horses could tack themselves up in the stable.......imagine the time saved then! I could then even take it one step further and see if they could bring themselves in from the field, wash their feet and groom all the mud off themselves...but hey, one thing at a time so we will see how we get on with putting on bridles!!

lol yes its absolutely corny and unfactual, but blimey some of you lot you would of thought it was meant to be a professional clinic on the tele! its crappy tele for a sunday easy stuff to watch always fine in my book
grin.gif
im too dead by sunday night to really concentrate.

I agree it's very corny and unfactual but enjoyed it all the same, it's nice to see horses on the t.v, will definatley watch next week, how many weeks is it on for?

It was so corny and unfactual and the continuity was rubbish that i turned it off after 20 minutres and watched top gear. i just wish they could get some technical advice when they film these things. As if some ramdom lad is going to get on an unbroken racehorse and go galloping off over solid fences bareback! I ask you. it was beyond cringe worthy but as long as the general public like it i suppose but i wont be killing myself to watch!

I totally agree it is easy watching and entertaining but can you imagine if the Beeb made as many factual errors on progammes like Casualty - there would be uproar! It would probaly be pretty funny to watch though

Yes there were many mistakes but it was fun. Plus the boy galloping bareback managed to stay on because he is a 'natural horsemen' who will later become the jockey. thats my prediction anyway.

Yes, those shots reminded me of Harry Enfield's sketch with the effeminate jockeys. Anyone remember that? PMSL!

I'd agree with most here, to say that it's good to have something vaguely horsey to watch on TV even if it is riddled with silly mistakes.
As HH says, why are horses on TV always whinneying?

The storyline seems to be rather predictable but I may be proved to be wrong.

I'll still be tuning in next week.

"why are horses on TV always whinneying?"--if you think thats bad you out to hear the animals in the Archers!
smile.gif

re factual base--these are Film/TV people, what do they know about animals!?--just enjoy the fact that they actually have some domestic livestock on T.V. for once instead of Foxes and squirrels all the time
grin.gif

Everything was wrong in it but really enjoyed it and I'll be watching again next week!

Main bugbear is the amount of bloody whinneying....gaaaah if my horses made that much noise it'd drive me mad!

Wasn't keen on first part but got into it as story picked up.

yeah few things not "correct" etc but as it's a programme, and not a documentary or I don't think it needs to be, I just watched it as I would any other programme than trying to be picky, I'm sure it'll be better next week.....

We enjoyed it, although found that we were playing "spot the mistakes" all the way through! But at least the main actors seemed to be a bit more horse friendly and better riders than some of the Hollywood stars you see bumping around on the backs of horses ...

And yes, have to confess that we will be watching it again next week - and hey, if it raises appreciation of the skill and qualities that it takes to train horses amongst non-horse riders and owners, then I guess it has to be a good thing!

Absolute rubbish I thought! As for the horse arriving back at the yard - reins carefully in place then putting itself back in its box and closing the door!!! Good grief - even non horsey people might have been more than a little sceptical about that!

Corny and infactual, but made a change to have a horsey drama on the TV, wouldn't mind getting my hands on that yard though. Think will watch it again, but wont be upset if I miss it..........

Total rubbish - just what I like for Sunday night viewing. Must be a horse thing but I couldnt stop thinking what I would do to the yard too!. So did the rest of the family, would definantely damp down the lunging barn, far too dusty etc etc etc - God how sad we are

I thought it was awful and def will not be watching it again. Im just p'd off that I chose that over Top Gear last night. Stick to what you know in future I say!!!!!!!

Southern Ireland?

Where's that then?

It's the Republic of Ireland.

Look at a car's number place, if it's white with black letters/numbers with a blue "bar" on the left, then it's RoI. The first two numbers are the year the car was bought, the letters refer to the county the car is registered in and the numbers after is the registry number of the car.

I didn't notice myself I was too busy cringing

Totally predictable! So stereotyped!
You would think someone who has enough licence payers money to play with, as do the BBC, they would actually pay someone a wee bit horsey to be on set. No wonder that "killer" colt was upset with the way that trailer was driven!! And the over staffing at the posh place - its amazing more racing yards dont fold with the wages bills they must have!
Now thats off my chest, I'll def watch next week as the colt was lovely!

i was pointing out all the mistakes whilst telling my family(who really didn't care) that the hoofbeats/general soundeffects were very excessive as you can't hear a horse walking on grass! very nice grey cob though i want to go hunting on that!

I was sooooooooooooooo doing the same! lol

I'm shocked they didn't have a thing on the end saying "do not attempt to recreate this at home". I can imagine some idiot getting on to the back of a horse and being surprised when they fell off after 5 seconds - "but the man on the tv could do it.." Implies riding is easy!!

If you taske it for what it is Sunday evening entertainment it's very good. very easy to pick holes in it but then again it does not profess to be fctual in any way.
I enjoyed it

Yeh - a bit of fun on a sunday - noted continuity re headcollar/bridle & would LOVE to have that yard with the outriding in the UK - so long as for sale CHEAP as needs loads doing to it !!

Will definitely watch next Sunday - glad to have "something horsey" on TV at last.

I can't believe it was on at the same time as Wild at Heart AND Top Gear. Nothing but rubbish on the entire week, then 3 things on at the same time !! I am too addicted to Wild at Heart to watch Rough Diamond.

Am I alone in having a bit of a thing about Stephen Tompkinson ???? Ohh err

HOnestly?? Shocking!!! Let alone the poor horse facts and handling, the continuity was appalling!!!! Won't waste my time next week - Top Gear for me thanks!!
