Hypothetically, I might be getting an old riding school horse and putting him in a spare acre in my garden.
Horse is an old ex polo and very stiff.
Looking for advice and cost of things like shoes/feed/possible supplements and hay.
How would I go about the transition from living in during the day and turnout at night to living out 24/7?

Will build field shelter/stable with a concrete area for washing off/grooming plus a water trough/water system in the field . Good pint weeble, think he is ususally turned out on his own as he is a kicker. Yes very well fenced with post and rail fencing with dog wire on the outside to stop anything running in. This is all the way round the field.

ideally do it in summer.
Put him out when its warm.
Obviously start with no rug then build it up as he needs it.
But don't over rug. let him grow a coat and remember the temperature changes a lot from day to night.

Feed hay and supliments as he needs it starting with little and building it up if needed.
