Roughly how much would you expect to pay (vet related)

Depends on how far the vet has to come but saying the call out will be £30, sedation £15 and I assume that they will check them over before they sedate them to make sure they are healthy enough to have one so another £25 there.......... around the £70 mark I would of thought, the vet will be able to give you a quote if you ask them

think i agree with tricksy,aint cheap as they have to do the health checks before they will sedate them!!its the bloody call out that cripples us all,ours has gone up to £36

I've looked back through my invoices for you,
visit = £26.78
sedation =£9.64.
the vet will also charge "work time at approx £60 an hour, so that may be why your fee was higher, they normally listen to the horse's heart etc before giving sedation, so that could bump it up a bit.
How much were you charged then?

Depends what your planning to do with her, my friends horse needed teeth done and she had to get 2 lots of sedation, i think it cost around £40-£50 for it, we split the call out charge as i was getting some of my lot done.

i dont think so lol! horse vets can only see about 10 clients in a day unless they go to a few huge yards - if they only charged the tenner for sedation (given the drugs themselves cost half that to buy) then they wouldn't be making much would they?!? my call out at the horse vet i used to use was £55 so think yourself lucky! i now work in small animal practice and i can see around 50 clients a day each paying £26.50 just to walk in the door and have a consult - drugs etc all extra. and i still only get paid the minimum wage if you average out my pay over the ridiculous number of hours i do - i'd stick with your current job if i were you - being a vet doesn't make you rich, just tired and stressed.

Thanks guys!

Need to ring the vet and get a quote but was just wondering.

I'm having her clipped, but know I'll only need one injection

Bloody ponies!

I've looked on my invoice and Tuesday call out £15 and injection £12.
Someone else on the yard though gets a paste off her vet for clipping. No call out so saves her loads. I know the one syringe does her pony 3 times during the clipping season
