Sods bloody law, weed killer sprayed the whole yard as weeds were creeping up on it....anyway moved all the horses out, have 2 left in which were in the seperate yard to that.

Sprayed yard, other 2 safely round the other side.

Cue frantic call about saying one of the horses has broken out and is on grazing on the grass nearby. Where he was grazing, was on the weeds which were done about 3 days ago [with round up].

He'd have been eating the grass there for literally 5-10 minutes no more I'd guess when he was caught and put away. He's now in the showjump paddock grazing happily...

I know round-up is pretty potent....what would you be doing if it was yours?

I have no idea what he'd done to get out, he's the quietest horse on the yard, had food in, company nextto him etc but the whole turnout pen fencing is completely shattered and down. So God knows. Bloody sods law.

:(

I read a post on a farming forum and its common practice to spray grass fields with round-up then a couple of days later graze it or bale it up for haylage/silage then plough (as the roots would be dead)..

So I wouldn't worry, if your still concerned I'd call the helpline number on the bottle of round up!

If you have an approachable vet phone and ask. If not just keep the bottle near by so the vet can see the ingredients (we had similar with buttercup killer pony escaped the day it was sprayed. Pony showed no adverse effects) Just checked ever quarter of an hour then ever couple of hours overnight.
