Today we went to a small riding club show and the first one ever for my daughter and I was glowing with pride. First class was condition and turnout which she did on her instructors pony who is only four and her first ever show too. The pony has never been in an indoor school before and she behaved immaculately. They came 2nd and then they won the lead rein pony. Then my daughter rode her own pony in Family Pony and came 2nd. Long interval and wait for next class, Ridden Pony, by which time pony had lost interest and gone to sleep! She came last!, Finally ridden hunter and no more life left in pony at all and she came 6th (out of six!).

We had such a fabulous day and I am as proud of my daughter for laughing at coming last just as much as for winning so many rosettes.

Will put some pictures up in the photo gallery (rubbish photos though because it was all indoors)

I don't blame you! So glad she had a great time. She'll be pestering you all the time now to go to them all!
Think pony might just prefer hunting!

Oh thats lovely. Although its great when they get rossettes, its equaly good for kids to come last too. I think there is not enough competition at school nowadays so children never learn how to cope with failure. One of the best things about horses and kids is the fact that they learn so may life lessons.

I know that I am too soft with my kids and they are spoilt but thank god I haven't got spoilt brat on pony sydrome!
