Does anyone feed this and what have been their experiences of it?

I started feeding in when we had the worst weather here because it creates a hot mash - good for keeping their fluid intake up when everywhere is frozen.

The thing is that my barefoot horse who has never been footy in his life has started stumbling on stony ground and looks uncomfortable in his front feet.
Obviously I've had the vet out and he doesn't think my horse has laminitis.

I know my horse though and know he's not right. Am I jumping to conclusions thinking it's the ready fibre mash?

Would be interested to hear other peoples experiences.

I used to use it, my horse loves bran mashes so thought it would be ideal. He ate it for about a year then suddenly stopped eating it, I contacted them and they hadn't changed the recipe so he was like run along mummy and find me something else to eat. I used to go from Cardiff to Gloucester to get it as I couldn't get it round here, left me with 5 bags I had to chuck out, gave some away to whoever wanted it.

I can't see its the feed thats caused your horses sore feet, maybe he's stood on a stone in the field ?

Have you stopped a supplement you were giving ?

What were you feeding before ?

I'm using it, although only about a scoop a day between two of them. I am very good on picking up on feet issues and both these (broodmare and two year old) are unshod. I think that it is only about 4% starch which is less than even Spillers HF cubes, so unless your horse is susceptable to any starch don't think it ought to be an issue.
But horses for courses and no one knows your horse like you do.

Before he was having some high fibre nuts soaked into a mash but it was more economical to use the ready fibre mash so I moved over to that.

I suppose I'm using about the same amount as you chrissie1 - a dry scoop between two which is then soaked.

I haven't stopped a supplement either and like I said it's very strange because he's always had such good feet. Makes me realise how much I took his feet for granted before.

I have cut it out now so will have to see if there is any improvement.

I have asked Rowan and Barbary for the sugar content - the starch is low but if the sugar is high that could be making it unsuitable for him.

Fingers crossed he improves soon, I hate seeing him struggle on his feet :-(
