is anybody else going to the royal welsh show tommorow. i always go up on the wednesday as its stallion day, it gives me such a rush to watch the stallions trot around the ring. And we are on a high as one of our home bred welsh mountain ponies won her class today 'cilsane misty maid' :) .... i hope the rain and mucky weather doesnt dampen the atmosphere in the stands and the ring tommorow :D

Oh well done with your welsh mountain, I may have seen her today on the s4c coverage during the day- do you have a stud or did you just breed for fun, I'm also in south wales. I'm definitely going to be up at the show tomorrow, can't wait! It's been a while since I last went up to the show so I'm ridiculously over excited :D

the going in the main ring is now bad- so i dont think the going will be any better than last year!

last year did put a whole new dimension on it though.... were the handlers going to be able to stop before they slipped over :D

how can you show anything at its true potential in that quagmire? the producers are up to their knees in mud, and the horses too- something will have to be done before next year, its a disgrace that the money was spent on a new food hall instead, when the old one was adequate for one more year atthe cost of roughly £150,000. one might as well drag hoss out of the field and take it straight to the show!!

I suppose if you are going to have dancing diggers in the same ring though that its never going to take much rain to wreck the ring. I do agree it does seem a shame that it is such a mess again.

Oooo, that means my mate should be on today. I'll have to watch the highlights later.

I saw pics from last year...It looked like a bog:eek: I have no idea how the ridden classes managed (tho my mate compared it to hunting)

Let's face it, with only 12 months to repair the damage from last year, the ground is still going to be too tender to be used at such a continuous rate. Shame they can't use astro turf for a year or two and get some strength back into the ground so it can withstand the hammer it gets from the various displays. It's either that, or only use the Horse Ring for horses (including the Welshies) and leave the displays to the Main Ring or put the displays in the cattle rings, not far to walk from one to t'other after all.
