Hi does anyone know of anyone in yorkshire who is planning on a litter of Rhodesian Ridgeback puppies at the beginning of next year? I have decided that this would be the best time to get one for us but am wanting to do my research and find the right puppy e.g meet the parents and breeder etc so thought now would be the best time to start asking questions. Would also be happy to travel for the right pup but as I am keen to visit a couple of times yorkshire would be easier. Im also keen to hear from anyone who has RR's as this will be my first so any advice would be much appreciated :-) thanks in advance

Oooh great choice!! There are a few rr people on here who will be delighted to tell you what a wonderful breed they are.
Here is my girlie Matty

I don't know of any breeders your way. I got Matty from the Wirral in Cheshire. They are a great breed but can be wilfull and need a firm hand. Excellent tempraments, easy to train and very affectionate.

Thank you for the reply Matty looks gorgeous so thanks for sharing the picture too :-)
I have met a few RR's over the years and they always seem like fantastic dogs so Im trying to control my excitement about getting a puppy as I want to plan it properly. Hopefully the right litter will turn up at the right time :-)

Here is a list of breeders from the champdogs website, not sure how up to date it is but there are heaps of names on there. alos, worth contacting the kennel club and having a chat with them. When I was looking for my boy they put me in touch with breeders with litters.

They are great dogs, full of character. Can be very sensitive so need careful (firm but fair) handling - but then, doesn't any dog?
