my mare is stressing over them as well youvery often see her charging about because theres a wasp buzzing about her. there just seams to be sooo many of them this year, i'v looked for nests but can't see any has any one any ideas or are you having trouble with the rotten things.

Im allergic badly to them so i notice them more than most - i bought a fake wasp nest which if u put in your garden or wherever u are they scare away other wasps (apparently)!

I could try that thanks Where do you get them from, as long as it don't attract them to try and set up home in it lol but im sure theres loads more than usual this year

I got it from the ideal home exhibition - u can probably get one online it was about £10 - its supposed to work as wasps dont go near other wasps nests within quite a big radius - its just a bag patterned to look like a nest to trick the wasps - not sure whether it really works or not tbh but makes me feel a bit better

I am allergic as well and absolutely hate them!

Sometimes they nest in the ground and it is very difficult to see the nest but you can hear a lot of them buzzing around. We had two nests 'hiding' in the ground a couple of years ago.

Poor you!!! Sounds horrible!!

Not to ruin your enjoyement, but if it was a wasp it would not have died after it stung you. If it died it was a bee. Generally people who are allergic to wasps and OK with bee stings and vice versa.

Whatever, just please be careful. I know of someone who died last week because of a wasp sting and he went in to a coma. Completely tragic; horrid hateful things, I have no idea why they were ever invented!

I was riding out about 2 weeks ago with a couple of friends and something landed on my neck and bit me; thinking it was one of those flies that attach themselves to your horses, I swatted it away but couldn't get it off and finally it moved onto my hand and it turned out to be a bee and it had stung me! I've never been stung before but luckily it appears I'm not allergic. I bet I looked ridiculuos swatting this thing like mad (I'm terrified of them too) while my horse was shying at me jumping around on top!

Glad you were OK, but if it's the first time you have been stung you would not know if you are allergic or not. The first time you develop the antibodies, from the second time onwards you get the allergic reaction, if you are allergic which hopefully you are not!!
