Need some collective HHO thoughts on this one.

Been trialing the Sprenger RS Dynamic eggbutt on horse as he is a curler and needs something steady but soft in the mouth. I have generally been impressed with it - horse seems more relaxed and not ducking BTV nearly as much. We also haven't had nearly as many disagreements.

Only issue is he can get quite stressy and put in flight mode quite easily. Normally I am able to break this by doing a nose to bum and/or disengage with a one rein stop (previously in a loose ring verbindend. He seemed to like the american dee-lite far better than the loose ring but was still consistently coming BTV). But in the dynamic RS on the weekend, I found it extremely difficult to do when he suddenly got stressy and became acutely aware that if he tanked off, I was probably going to die with limited brakes in addition.

Thoughts on whether the D-ring in the RS Dynamic might help? Appreciate the eggbutt is a hybrid between a d-ring and eggbutt. I just need a way to disengage his brain and body in emergency situations as once I break that cycle, he is ok.

We ride in just a regular cavesson. Spoke to bit bank who is unsure but thinks my thinking is potentially on the right track.

Normally I’d think a D ring would be better for steering, but the rs dynamic is pretty close to a D ring already, so personally I’d only try it on a bit trail scenario else you may just be sinking money.
