The RSPCA is appealing for information after an emaciated foal was dumped in a Surrey Lane and subsequently hit by a car.

The young black colt (male) foal (young horse/pony) was abandoned in an emaciated state in Roughets Lane, Bletchingley, Redhill. He was discovered by a member of the public just before midnight on Thursday (21 August), but it is not known how long he had been there or when he was dumped.

I does not matter how may times I hear such stories it does not get any easier.

I get a lot of people contacting me looking to home equines saying the charities they contact say they cannot help, full, no money etc.

So far so good we have managed to help the majority one way or another however, if they cannot sell them or re home, then is it best to put them down? It has to be better than being dumped....isn't it?

Dispicable, no excuse. The trauma that young innocent life must have gone through doesnt bear thinking about.

If you cant afford to look after the animal, do not have the animal.

voicesforhorses, i hate to say it, but it's free to dump them, and can be expensive to have them put down...

Yes, sadly you are right.
There needs to be so much more focus on prevention.
