RSPCA??? do you agree with this statement??

Weirdly enough I had the same thought when I saw that the RSPCA were looking to bring a private prosecution. I actually looked up political activity in regard to charities and apparently they are allowed to campaign on political agendas if it is related to their main activity.

Therefore even if they believe they can prove that the Hunting Act has been broken, I believe they should also have to demonstrate that this private prosecution is an animal welfare issue. If they can't demonstrate this then I think that this MEP is correct to challenge their ability to bring this prosecution and maintain their charitable status.

I would imagine that proving that the Hunting Act and animal welfare are linked in a positive manner would be extremely difficult !

Agree and more than that I believe that the CPS should be bringing prosecutions not the RSPCA. In other words, if a charity wants to choose to also do political stuff, that's OK, but it is incompatible with the role of a bringer of prosecutions who should be neutral, so they should have to choose between the two aspects of what they do since to me there is a conflict of interest.

I used to give the RSPCA all my unwanted/outgrown rugs ,tack, all sorts. As from this last month I wont be doing so because of this hunt persecution.

Take a look at the RSPCA's accounts for last year.....................they had £160 million at end of financial year (Dec2011)

And they ask for donations to prosecute a hunt ? They disgust me ! Not the people on the ground but the people in charge making the decisions.........and holding the purse strings.
