RSPCA - you've gotta love them!

FFS. You know I'm as big an advocate as fit-for-purpose as you can get, running around a ring and picking up a rosette in the breed ring means nothing to me without adequate health tests and working qualifications, but to target fun shows where a lot of dogs, because they are cross-bred or not KC reg, would never have a chance to enter a normal show is just ridiculous.

Hey RSPCA, there are dogs being abused and abandoned every bloody day, maybe spend some more of your time and money on that instead of paying press officers to come out with this guff and stretegists to come up with ridiculous 'guidelines'.

We didn't need a charity, or indeed the KC to give us guidelines on health and character - we did it ourselves and always have done...

We have seven rescue dog's. They all enjoy a day out at a local fun event or country fair. We enjoy showing them off in the fun classes.
These dog's have had a bad life and we are proud to show them off when the dog's enjoy it. If they didn't we would not do it.
They are not your perfect pooches but we love them and enter handsome dog etc.
One of ours is 10th most handsome lorry dog of britain. In my eyes he is the most handsome:D
It is sheer stupidity. We all know it is a bit of fun, but then fun is not allowed this day and age.

Will it be most appealing pony next for the chop? although we would be better enetering most appalling:eek::D

Ahhh bless the RSCPA, I am surprised they allow competitive classes at all - it could give the dogs that dont win a real inferiority complex  There are no losers, there are just those which need improvement.....:p

Good grief - I think we've established time and time again on these forums that the welfare charities really do have better things to be getting on with! Just another reason to send my donations elsewhere!

Ben ate his handsomest dog rosette. But he if hadn't, and was still alive, he'd be fuming!

As a KC registered pedigree dog.... with no knackers... handsomest dog was just about the only thing he had going for him.

What the RSPCA fail to take into account was that Ben had a child handler. I've always thought thats the sort of person novelty classes attracted, rather than unscrupulous dog breeders with no reguard for animal welfare!!

I knew the RSPCA were up to something though, they had a begging advert on TV the other day... "if he could talk, he'd be asking for your monies..." "Actually, mate, he's probably wondering if he pisses from that angle if he can get it to trickle all down your leg!"

Ahhh good, biscuit catching it is then! Not that he puts any effort it anyway!!
Until we get told we can't because they could choke!! or something

Scoobie never won handsomest dog anyway *sulks*

:D :D :D

It seems the latest little gem from the RSPCA is that they no longer consider novelty classes such as prettiest bitch and most handsome dog "appropriate", as they are judged purely on looks and doesn't consider if the dog is "fit for purpose". :p

so who the effing hell does the RSPCA think it is! classes as such at the shows bring alot of fun, and is it detrimental to the dogs- are the doggies embarassed??
bloody pathetic- they need to concentrate on being a proper charity- prevention of cruelty to animals!!!!
