RSPCAs New Campaign

Its about all they are good at, raising awareness.

From a horsey perspective I wish they would get their act together and actually do something about the cruelty cases. As an organisation they just annoy me.

Sceptical as I usually am about the RSCPA, this is something I actually totally agree with. Extremely flat faces, short legs, excessive skin - digusting, unnatural, causes suffering.

Stolen from their 'choosing a puppy' guide:

Think very carefully about the likely impact of physical features on a dogs' life before buying a puppy.

Find out what problems are common in the sort of dog you are considering. The Canine Inherited Disorders Database - www.upei.ca/cidd may help, as you can look up “disorders associated with conformation” for each breed you are considering.

Although exaggerated features are more common in pedigree dogs bred for showing, they can still occur in cross breeds, so you still need to choose a puppy carefully.

If you decide on a type of dog which can suffer from exaggerated features, select an individualbred for less extreme characteristics.

For example

If you're choosing a breed with a flat face, choose a dog with a less flattened face, and check its parents can breath easily.
if choosing very large or small breeds, avoid choosing the largest or smallest individuals.

Many breeders are keen to try to breed away from extreme features so choose a responsible breeder.

Dogs that are unable to walk or breathe easily are unlikely to lead fulfilling lives.

Remember

Don't buy a puppy because you feel sorry for it – another will be bred to replace it!

They are useless! Next to our yard is a house, they own 7 horses/ponies. 3 ponies at the moment are living 24/7 in stables with no roofs that never get mucked out and 4 that live in a spinney type pen with lots of things to injure themselves on. RSPCA couldnt care at all

I haven't seen it, but if its encouraging people to buy pups from health tested parents (with good results) then sounds good. However I am a bit fed up of their pedigree dog bashing, yes some breeds have had awful exaggerations bred in but the RSPCA and certain journalists seem to want to portray everyone who has ever bred or shown a pedgree dog as evil dog abusers.
