My boy is very sensitive skinned and his flash strap has rubbed him .Today I turned out a new sheepskin nose band cover and used that it helped a bit but is really too big for the thin strap. Is there a product either sheepskin or gel etc made for the job.
I also have the same problem with his v check breastplate it has rubbed in a couple of places (its good soft & clean leather) so I thought about getting just an elasticated breastcheck with a sheepskin cover (it will avoid a sensitive spot he has between his front legs )I have been doing the usual with him keeping areas clean and I use Aloe Vera on any sore places he is also now on Equiderm Plus from Feedmark which seems to be helping.
Amy one any ideas or recomendations please as I do quite long distances Thanks

My freind has an arab with exactly the same probs - she does long distances as well - i always joke with her that he should have a sheepskin babygrow that way he cant get rubbed anywhere! it might be an idea to put vaseline where he gets rubbed when you ride him - but on an every day basis put surgical spirit on to harden the area up (hope that is good advise - anyone who thinks its wrong - please advise as i dont want to give bad ideas!) Perhaps a curb gel guard might fit over the flash?

Yes thats an idea I will look to see if I can get a curb gel guard and try it .
I have got some stuff I used on another horse that is a skin hardener so when it heals and is not sore I might try that

I have the same problem. My boy is black and has very little, if no hair in the area above his nostrils which is where mine rubs on either side. He has an awful habit of drawing back his tongue and Ive tried practically every bit going and a flash etc. My friend says the area will harden up and to continue using the flash but I stop using it for a bit after its rubbed.
