How do you keep your horses mane entire during the winter? Our pony is losing the hair over a 4 inch patch just in front of the withers where her underrug (which is well fitting) is wearing/thinning it. We hope to do workers with her in the spring (well, son is being persuaded that he might like to!) and I'd like to be able to plaits in all along her mane and not just in patches!

Does anyone have any suggestions? All gratefully received, and Happy NY!

Nope, I have just given up while I have a small amount of mane left and am going tp take all neck covers off, unless it's freezing

Sew some satin over the join between the neck and rug.

If you do have trouble plaiting.. i cut a small section of hair from the back of my old mares tail (where it wouldn't show) and plaited that into what was left of her mane to create the plaits.

Good ideas, both. We have a very full tail that could lose a small section without it being obvious.

I have exactly the same problem! I have used a neck rug but i don't think it makes much difference.

Didn't happen last year either, strange.
