Ethel's fly mask rubbed her nose a while ago, which was then made worse by her noseband when we went to a show. All the hair had been rubbed out and the skin rubbed raw. I washed it with diluted hibiscrub and apllied derma gel everyday for a while after she did it and then stopped once the hair started coming back through, but, it's grown back white  I absolutly HATE white scar marks on horses, not even too keen on normal white markings! So now my lovley just bay with no white markings horse has two patches of white on her nose :( Is there anyway at all that they will go, or that I can make them go back to their normal colour? I'm doubting this very much, and now kicking myself for not even thinking about the hairs growing back white and asking before they grew back if there was a way to prevent it, but I'd thought I'd ask anyway. Thank you to any lovely people who can help :D

Sorry I have no idea how to get rid.. Try... PAINT :D!! My tb has white bits on her nose the same as yours but it's where she was difficult to catch and always wore a headcollar when out in the field. It never rubbed her raw, just rubbed the hairs off and they grew back White! They can't be seen when ridden though as It's hidden behind her fluffy grackle noseband lol.

I've haven't really heard of anything to prevent or change it to be honest with you, other than a product or two that 'claim' to not cause White hair to grow where there's scarring. Can't remember any brand names though, sorry I'm not much help :(

I can't help with the already regrown white hair but .....

The hair will nearly always grow back white due to the damage to the folicle area however try liquid parafin ! get it from the chemist and just dab on area's that are hairless or rubbed ( not on open wounds or split skin etc ) as the parafin puts back in the ingredients the the folicle needs to repair itself ... Doesn't work all the time but 85% chance it will ! hope this helps x

And why do I know this ??? I own 3 greys LMAO x x x

Haha I was thinking of just dying it back to brown ;) But I don't think I'm that mean ... I think it's too late now to get the rubs back to normal colour now anyway .. but I thought I'd ask! Will keep the liquid parafin idea for next time :) You also cant see Ethel's when being ridden as she has a fluffy on her noseband to stop that rubbing her. She also has a white mark on the back of her leg, where it was all scurfy and yuck and I picked at it :o so that grew back white too, but that bit doesnt bother me as it's tiny and you can't see it unless you know its there sort of thing :)

Shoe polish is also a favourite of ours when we show !!! Fabulous thing for hiding odd bits !! Use it on our dressage horse too that has a wonky blaze down the left nostril we just boot polish the bottom bit off else he looks like his heads not on straight !! lol x x
