I bought a new rubber feeding bowl and it stinks horribly of rubber. I hadn't noticed this with previous purchases.
I have obviously washed it thoroughly and soaked it for a long time with plain water but it still smells.

Anyone with a bright idea of how to get rid of the smell?

I bought a new one recently and I did notice the smell, especially after I left it in my car. I used it as I would normally and the smell appears to have gone. It certainly didn't put my horse off of eating.

Think it just goes with time, I bought one in the spring for a new horse & it stank! The smells gradually gone & she didn't seen bothered anyway.I daren't risk trying to feed my old boy in it as he's ridiculously fussy & easily put off food without throwing a weird smelling bucket into the mix!

Leave it to soak overnight in water and dissolve an aqua tab in the water- (the tablets used to keep stored water in horseboxes etc fresh).
