The first lot I got 4 years go were Aquamats. But I just bought some more for yet another (!!) stable from these people: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Quality-RUBBER-STA...1QQcmdZViewItem
They are excellent quality - a bit thicker than my Aquamats, and I ordered over the phone and they were delivered within 2 days. Am very, very pleased with them.

Now that's interesting as I got some samples from the same people a while ago & thought they looked good but didn't get them in the end as I couldn't see how mats that cheap could be as good as the 300 per stable type mats. Hmmmmm, I might be taking a trip to coventry soon too!
How did you do with fitting your mats? Was it a major hassle or is it the sort of thing any horsey person with half a brain cell can manage? With 8 stables to muck out they would make life one hell of a lot easier!!!
We've got 6 stables all with matting - makes mucking out much easier and the beds much warmer and less concussion for horses. The mats we fitted 4 winters ago are still going strong and we haven't lifted them - they don't show any wear and tear even with our 1 tonne chap on them!. Anyone with a strong OH and half a brain can fit them. You need to make sure that you have a whole mat in the stable doorway without a join as this is the mat that gets the most wear. You'll need a stanley knife with extra blades and a hammer to bang the mats in really tight. My OH and I fitted our mats - all our stables are odd sizes so he drew diagrams of the stables first and how he was going to fit the mats - but then he is incredibly well organised!
ive got those mats to, cost me about £21 each from the supplier that is a few miles away from me..think there website is www.horsemat.co.uk
i do find that you need a really good stiff brush to sweep them though!
I have field guard stable mats, they are a bit costly but worth every penny, as none slip and easy to keep clean, and not so heavy to move about as they come in small. http://www.fieldguard.com/index.htm

I've been looking at these, mainly to make mucking out easier for my son. Can you do 1/2 stables or does it need to be the whole lot? And do you need to lift them regularly? Do horses lie down as much on them? are they warm? I was thinking of using them with just a sprinkling of shavings?
katy, ottos stable used to be completey covered but the matting was aiding him to pull his shoes off when he twisted his feet round so i took 3 out and just lay the bed on the remaining ones, its works well and no more twisted shoes so far. meg also only has a couple in her stable and the shettie has 1 in hers. otto has a decent shaving bed on his but only so that he doesnt twist his shoes on the mats. the mares have a covering of straw on theres , they both lay down on them as well so i guess your boy would be fine on them to

Oooh these look great and affordable too! Thanks for posting, I'm off to see how many I need for my stable now...!
Well, ponio eats his bed, so I've got three options. I'm trying Yukka bed on straw to see if that stops him eating it. If that doesnt work I can bed him on shavings, but he's a mucky pup and this would be pricey, or bed him on matting and use a bit of shavings.
