Decided to buy rubber matting in next few weeks /months.My yo doesnt go edge to edge with hers leaves about 2 ft either side and has good banks. This will save alot on matting as I need to do 2 stables. She doesnt have a problem with them moving .
Opinions please.

Hi
They would need to be heavy enough not to move. Its much safer to have it all matted but let me know how you get on

With a lot of the mats you get slippage even if they are edge to edge....

There is no real problem if you are not worried about moving them if they do slip a bit....

I just have the front half of the stable matted, with the back bedded..... but then he lives out so matters not really!!!

Another livery at our yard has just a little group of mats in the middle and they shift around as if they are alive! Like MQ, I put mats down on just the front half of Sunny and Angel's stable - deep litter on the back 2/3rds. They stay perfectly in place BUT at the join, old shavings do occasionally get under and lift a corner of one mat. I have to lift that corner even further and scrape the muck out so the mat lies flat again. No biggie really, but if I'd known this might happen I'd have sealed the joints properly. Might still do that in the summer.

We have mats. Heavy ones. They move a bit, but only because I haven't got round to filling in the little gap down the side

.

We just have a sprinkling of shavings, no banks etc., is a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge time saver

Now I get to play with neddy instead of spending hours mucking out grin:
