Can someone give me some information on what rubber matting is? Why it is considered to be a life saver and what you need to be able to have it?

I'm completely ignorant about it but as I've heard it saves time I would love to find out more as then I can muck out before I leave the house in the morning!

If you are anywhere near north of Witney you could come and have a look, we have a mixture of boxes with matting and without - and you will soon see how much quicker and easier the boxes with matting are to do

Some say it reduces bedding costs & time mucking out which it probably does. I bought mine so it would be better on my horses joints. I have a concrete floor & my horse was scraping his hocks when he got up despite having a thick bed. Since fiting the matting, 3 years ago he has never scraped himself & I also believe it stops the cold coming up through the floor into him while he's standing in his stable.

If you are considering it don't buy any matting that is thinner than 17/18mm. If you do you may find that it deteriorates & rips but to the twisting & turning that your horse naturally does whilst in the stable. The 18mm mats I have are still in as new condition after 3 years.

Well - I had my rubber matting laid last week. I'm not sure what was more exciting - a new horse or new rubber matting

It's going to save me money in the long run because I won't have to use so much bedding on the 'bed monster', and also saves a lot of time when mucking out - again especially if you have a bed monster.....

I paid £350 for my matting. Cheaper options are available, and I did use very cheap ones for my previous little horse. However she was only little, very clean, and in a well draining stable.

I aniticpate that next year my bedding bills through the winter will be half of what they have been so far this winter.
