Just wondering how many people use rubber matting, and what sort do you use? If you use it, do you put any bedding on top of it, and how often do you lift mats to clean under neath?

I use Equimat in all 4 of my stables, and the oldest matting is about 14 years old now (does need replacing this year me thinks... - its looking a bit worn out!)
I don't as a rule put any bedding on top of the matting, but I do usually use turnout rugs as stable rugs. I try and lift the mats either once or twice a year to hose under neath. Very chuffed with myself right now as I have managed to pressure wash all 4 stables completely in the last couple of weekends

4 clean stables now!!

Hi

I use rubber matting, I couldn't live without it as my horse's stable always looks like he has had his mates round for a party! I put bedmax bedding in for him too, quite thick banks as he is prone to getting cast and some on the floor to lie on!

I've got rubber matting for all of mine (couldn't be without it especially for the heavies). They have full shavings beds on the top as well. Mats have been down for 5 years and we haven't needed to lift them.

Rubber matting in both our stables and shavings as both geldings won't eurinate without it, they don't like their legs splashing. They are only in in the winter nights. When we turn them out 24 hrs, we lift all the mats disinfect mats and all the stables and leave the mats up till we need the stable again. If we keep them in occationally for worming just put shavings down.

i have rubber mats, and have a shavings bed on top. not a full bed, but still pretty adequate. it seems to work well.
i lift the mats once maybe every three months or so, more in the summer, and have a good wash out
i couldnt be without mine

Yup, rubber matting for me, with some elephant grass sprinkled, which is very absorbant, so you only need a little, I use that because it's an organic farm.

I have really heavy rubber mats, that haven't been lifted since I put them down 3yrs ago!!!

I have a pretty full shavings/Bedmax bed on top as really only use the mats to stop my cob mare going down to the concrete.
