The yard i Run/keep the beast at is looking to transfer everything off of straw onto rubber matting with a small shavings bed to help lower costs, so was just wondering which matting you all have?? especially as we have 70 stables to be kitted out so we need to know the best quality for the best price if anyone could help??

I have equimats - which I can't recommend enough.

It cost me about £300 I think to put them down. I don't save any money on shavings as I still put in at least two bales a week. But in terms of saving time on mucking out then they are a godsend.

I have equimats, too. They cost something around £400 (can't remember exactly) delivered for a massive 12 x 15.5 stable. Took me about 10 minutes to put them down and they are dead easy to take up and clean (very light) - although I must say I have only ever cleaned once underneath - because of the way they are nothing seems to collect underneath...

They are fantastic! If you are looking at 70 stables I am sure they will give you a good deal, too.

As regards to bedding - if you are only doing a wee patch I'd recommend something a bit more absorbant than woodchips - otherwise the smell can be quite revolting in the morning. Also be prepared for pooh stains on horse & rugs...

My lad has COPD - he is on a small, thin dustfree bed (well, a glorified wee patch really) as I need to make sure that all amonia is soaked up and can be removed each day. I find that this way I get the dust free & amonia free benefits as well as the time & money saving benefits but without the pooh-stains ...

Yes for 70 stables, you are looking at a good discount. Plus the company providing the mats to fit them professionally for you.

we have just got the Cow mats Mayo Mats(which are the best in US & they use the best EVA available unlike over here - also over here they only have 1yr guarentee) these have 10yr guarentee, they come in 22mm up to 38mm (which i have) although they have been down just 3 days, i have found the muckout better - i am using less shavings well sawdust (but good quality) as the bedding is so soft and warm they dont need much, my big horse over 17hh is very happy on them and hes a big woosser.

they stop the cold coming up from the concrete. it cost about 250.00 each stable and i did 4 for now but im getting my other 20 stables kitted out now.

link below - they are very helpfull

i hate my mats and wouldn't use them again they are a pain to move and the wee gets between the gaps. spend the same time mucking out on mats as on concrete and haven't saved me any money either

There were about 5 of us at our yard who all had rubber matting to kit out our 12ft x 14ft stables. The mats were made by a good manufacturer and they were seconds so some had the odd bubble on them, or they were very slightly worn - they have never caused me a problem and i have had them for 4 1/2 years now. I kitted out my stable albeit about 1.5ft short - which is where my bank is anyway- for £180.00 inc delivery and VAT. I thought the company was called Tryline but i have googled it and can't find anything about it. I will have a look over the weekend and get back to you on Monday if you are interested in seconds as I am without internet access until then.
